Messrs. Waddington Bros., of Wath-on-Dearne, are experimenting with houses which require neither brick nor plaster and can be erected, it is said, at four times the ordinary speed.
The Mexborough Council have arranged for a demonstration with a Leyland motor fire-engine at the Mexborough Fire Station, at 1-30 on Saturday, to which representatives of neighbouring Councils have been invited.
The cooking on the new restaurant car on the London and North Eastern Railway is done entirely by electricity. It is generated by means of an ingenious device attached beneath the coach and driven by the revolution of the wheels.
Subscriptions to the Montagu Hospital, Mexborough, during November, amounted to nearly £2,384, including a donation of £1,000 from the Hickleton Main Colliery Company Ltd., and one of £500 from the Manvers Main Collieries Ltd.
An interesting and educational lantern lecture, “A Tour Through the Houses of Parliament,” will be given by Mr. T. Williams, M.P., on Friday, Dec. 12th, at the Mexboro’ Primitive Methodist Schoolroom, at 7 p.m. Upwards of 50 special slides will be displayed by Mr. Davis, of Doncaster.
The London and North Eastern Railway Company announce that on and from Monday, 1st December, refreshment cars will be run on the 8-30 a.m. and 1-30 p.m. through expresses, Liverpool (Central) to Manchester, Sheffield (Victoria) and Hull (Paragon), and the 2-30 p.m. and 6-30 p.m. through expresses, Hull (Paragon) to Sheffield (Victoria), Manchester, and Liverpool (Central).
