Influenza.

The influenza epidemic is rampant in the village, and the local doctors report about 200 cases under treatment.

There have been five deaths. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Goodinson have lost their only child.

Deep sympathy is expressed throughout the village with Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and family, of the Ferry Boat-house, Kilnhurst. Mr and this Mrs. Smith are ill in bed, also all of their children. One child, Muriel died on Monday, whilst on Tuesday Mary Smith died.

The funeral of these two little victims took Place at St. Thomas’s Church on Wednesday. Neither father and mother, sisters and brothers were able to attend the funeral.
