The Yorkshire Coal Strike.
A Definite Settlement.
Work Resumed on Monday

The Yorkshire coal strike, so far as South Yorkshire was concerned, came to a definite end on Friday, after the South Yorkshire Association and the leaders of the Yorkshire miners Association had met on Saturday in Sheffield, The Government formula of 12.2 as the proper increasing piece rates is the basis of the settlement.

The only colliery in this portion of South Yorkshire which did not resume on Monday was Frickley where about 2,000 men are employed.

These men decided not to return to work until certain deputies who had helped to maintain the mine during the strike, were dismissed.

Later in the week, however, the men thought better of their attitude, and returned to work.
