Swinton Territorial

Gunner Douglas Bacon, aged 22, son of Mrs. Bacon and the late Mr. Bacon, of Market Street, Swinton, is married and resides at 3, Birdwell Road, Highthorn, Kilnhurst.

He has been a Territorial for three years and was attached to the 188th A.A. Battery R.A., at Mexborough. Before being called up he was employed at the Manvers Colliery. He is a keen cyclist.

Some nine years ago he dived into the canal at Bowbroom, fully clothed, ‘ and rescued a child from drowning.
