On the ground of the former on Saturday, before a large attendance of spectators, Kilnhurst won the toss, and kicked uphill, and after about three minutes’ play E. Sylvester drew first blood for the homesters. Soon after a fine shot was sent in by the same player, which Morton, the visitors’ custodian, fisted out well.

From a nice run down the field by Taylor that player just shot outside. Kilnhurst now began to play a good passing game, by which they obtained a corner, but nothing came of it.

Owen, for Sheepbridge, got well down the field, but shot over. A foul occurred in the visitors’ goal, A. Sylvester shooting wide. Taylor now made a grand run down the field, but after passing several players shot out.

E. Sylvester next shot well in, but Morton saved well, and other attempts were made by the home players, but to no purpose, and half-time arrived with the score:—

Sheepbridge 1, Kilnhurst 0.

On resuming, Kilnhurst had a foul, but nothing came of it. After this a run was made by the visiting forwards, but Jessop shot over, and this was followed by a second run, from which Caterer drew first blood for the Kilnhurst, thus equalising.

A good run was made up the field by Taylor, who succeeded in passing several of the players, until when about three yards from the goal he came into contact with T. Froggatt, the Kilnhurst back, and was tripped. A penalty kick was given, by which Owen scored a second goal for the homesters.

For a time play went on very evenly, until Taylor put in a grand shot, which Hill headed out. The Kilnhurst forwards now broke away, and Sharpe shot over the bar.

Just before the call of time Taylor broke away, and raced up the field. On nearing the goal he made a good shot, but no forwards being up an easy chance was missed.

Time now arrived, and the result was:—

KILNHURST ……………………….. 1 goal.
