Remembrance Day
An Unveiling At Kilnhurst
Particular significance is attached to the Remembrance Day services at Kilnhurst this year. Names of the fallen in the last war have been newly inscribed on the village War Memorial, and the unveiling of these names by Mr. Ernest Vickers to take place on Sunday, November 11th at 3. 15pm. Renovation of the inscribed names of the dead in the first world war is also to be effected.
Arrangements for the services on November 11th were completed by Kilnhurst British Legion branch on Sunday.
There will be as procession from Weir Bridge at 2.15pm to Kilnhurst Parish Church, where the preacher at a service conducted by the vicar (Rev. W. S. Fletcher) will be Mr. A. Leigh, of Rotherham. At subsequent service at the War Memorial, the Roll of Honour will be called by Mr. H. Hutchinson, and the lesson will be read by Councillor J. Randerson J.P., Swinton Urban Council chairman. The unveiling ceremony by Mr. Vickers will then take place.
