Pit Strike Ends

After being addressed last night by Mr. F, Collindridge, Yorkshire miners’ vice-president, strikers at Kilnhurst Colliery, near Mexborough, decided resume work to-day pending negotiations.

The dispute began on Tuesday afternoon when 13 belt workers in the Silkstone Seam went on strike in protest against the introduction a new price list for colliers and cutters which excluded pan cleaners. A total of 256 workers were affected by the stoppage.

No. 6 pit (Parkgate Seam) of the Barnburgh Main Colliery, which resumed work on Monday after 48-hour stoppage last week, was idle again yesterday after a refusal by market men to work because of a wage dispute.

The trouble began on Wednesday when a small number of the market men came out. They were Joined by the remainder yesterday, and 250 are involved.

A meeting will be held at Bolton-on- Dearne to-morrow in an effort to end the dispute.
