Co-Operative Society.
At the 321st quarterly meeting of Kilnhurst Co-operative Society on Saturday, the names of Messrs. J. E. Windle. A. E. Sanders, H. Barlow and G. S. Lightfoot, were put forward for nomination for election of two directors.
Reform Church.
The preacher at the Highthorn Wesleyan Reform Church on Sunday was Mr. Cannandine, of Dalton. Mrs. Whaley presided at a Women’s Meeting on Monday, when Mrs. Owen gave a reading. The Christian Endeavour on Tuesday was addressed by Mr. E. Dean.
Correction.
In last week’s notes a paragraph stated that Miss Emily Roper (21), second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Roper, of 83, Highthorn Road, Kilnhurst, was the first Kilnhurst girl to join the A.T.S.
Actually, the first local girl to join was Volunteer Annice Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, of Rix Road.
Killed In Raid.
Here is a photograph of Mrs. Annie Raper (49), a former Kilnhurst woman, a report whose death a raid on East Coast appeared last issue.
The funeral took place at Kilnhurst A. Raper last week.
