Kilnhurst Shooting Tragedy
Death of Culpin

At 5.30 o’clock this morning John Culpin, 67, colliery deputy, of Kilnhurst, died in the Rotherham Hospital from the effects of a shot gun wound.

On Friday morning the report of a gun was heard in Culpin’s house and directly afterwards he came out of the door, and fell in the yard.

A neighbour went to his assistance and carried him back to the dwelling, where a recently discharged gun was found on the floor.

After medical attention from Dr Dewick week the sufferer was conveyed to Rotherham.

Culpin is said to have been depressed in consequence of unemployment and other trouble.
