Kilnhurst Offers an Expansion Site
After More Than Two Years Silence the Wheels Are Turning Again

After two and half years of silence the wheels rolling again at the Baker and Bessemer work site at Kilnhurst. They are those of the steel strapping plant of Gerrard industries Ltd.

Since May 1966

in an exclusive interview Mr Brian Wilkinson, General Works Manager for Gerrard industries Ltd, told the “South Yorkshire times” that the firm had been established in Kilnhurst since May 1966.

“We had strap slitting plants at the Steel, Peech and Tozer’s Works at Rotherham, but in order to expand we looked round for a suitable site and found this at Kilnhurst.

We bought the whole 32 acre site, including the buildings, and sold 15 acres to Rubery Owen, retaining the rest for our own use.” He said.
