Important South African Order for Tires.

John Baker and Co. Ltd have received an order for 5,300 carriage and wagon items for delivery to the South African Government during the next three months. The whole of this work will he carried out at their Kilnhurst works.

The order is about twice the size of the usual order, which Baker’s receive from this source, and this is accounted for by the fact that they have secured the order which formerly went to Bessemer’s, whose business they recently absorbed.

The work will keep the tire department at Kilnhurst busy till the end of the year, but the axle department remains quiet.
