Eventful Day
Mr. Samuel Braithwaite, of Hill Top Farm, Conisborough, had some disconcerting experiences on Saturday.
In the morning the body of an unknown man was found in a shed on his farm.
In the late afternoon Mr. Braithwaite pulled up at a garage on Sheffield Road, Conisborough. He got out and while talking to the proprietor heard a crash. He was astonished to find that a small car had dashed into the front of his stationary car and was badly damaged, with its five occupants all injured. The small car, which was on its way to Doncaster from Kilnhurst, had a plasterer, of Percival Road Hampden Park, Eastbourne; Betty Hill (15), of Harlington Road Mexborough; Arthur License, miner Kilnhurst, and John Turton, miner, South Terrace, Kilnhurst.
Two doctors and the ambulance were quickly on the spot and Arthur License was taken to the Montagu Hospital suffering from concussion, and detained. Betty Hill had fifteen stitches inserted in her face and the others also sustained facial injuries.
There was no injury to Mr. Braithwaite, but his car had a smashed radiator and other damage to the front.
