Children’s Police Court.

A Kilnhurst Incident.

An eight-year-old Kilnhurst boy was at Rotherham (West Riding) children’s police Court on Tuesday summoned for having stolen a purse containing 3 ½ d at Kilnhurst on September 26th.

Edith Harrison, married, of 25 Meadow View, Kilnhurst, said at 4 PM she left the players containing 3 ½ d only mantelshelf unless the back door unlocked while she went to a shop at Highthorn. She was away about 10 minutes and returned to find her purse and the money missing. From something said to her by a neighbour she saw the boy in the street, who said he had not taken the purse. He said he had spent the money on sweets.

The mother of defendant said that there were two boys in the case. The other boy, was only six years of age, went into the house with her boy for a key. They saw the purse and took it.

The boy was bound over.
