Butchers on Strike.

The butchers of Swinton and Kilnhurst have gone strike because the local prices of meat are in some cases lower than those prevailing in the neighbouring districts of Mexborough and Wath.

They contend that the discrepancy unfairly handicaps them in the wholesale market (a contention that has been destroyed by the latest Order of the Food Controller), and they have not opened for business since December 29.

They have made a complaint to the Swinton Food Control Committee, but have suspended business before that authority has had an opportunity of going into the matter.
