Both In The News.

Miss Nancy Vickers, S.R.N., R.F.N., S.C.N., and her brother. Peter, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Vickers, of 3, Rix Road, Kilnhurst, are in the news this week.

Miss Vickers has been appointed Sister at Badsley Moor Lane Isolation Hospital, Rotherham, and will take over her new past at the end of July. She is at present Sister at Plaistow Hospital London.

Nurse Vickers was trained at Lodge Moor Fever Hospital, Sheffield, and the East End Maternity Hospital, London, where, in July, 1946, she passed her examinations in midwifery.

She is an old pupil of Kilnhurst Council School and a grand-daughter of Mrs. A. Burke, of Mexborough.

Peter Vickers, aged 14, who recently played his first season with Rotherham Boys’ football team, had success running for Rotherham in the Yorkshire Schools’ Athletic Association county championship sports at Bridlington on Saturday. He was first in two heats and fourth in a final. With other members of the Rotherham Boys’ team he was presented with a miniature cup, to commemorate the team winning the “Wylie” Shield last season, by the Mayor of Rotherham, at a celebration dinner in Rotherham last week.
