Bank Holiday Gala.
Nearly 3,000 people attended the Bank Holiday gala in the Welfare grounds on Monday promoted by the Co-operative Society.
Mr. Frank Walker, of Doncaster, addressed the gathering. There was a large number of entries for the fancy dress parade and some striking and original costumes were judged.
Nine prizes were awarded. About 150 balloons were dispatched: one reached Market Harboro’. another Melton Mowbray. and three fell in Buckinghamshire.
The gala was well organised; teas and refreshments were provided, and the Mexborough Military Band played selections.
