Alleged Robbery at Hooton Roberts

John Wilkinson, miner, of Kilnhurst, was charged with having stolen a pipe, two keys, a handkerchief. and 6s. from the person of John Redman, labourer, of Parkgate, at Hooton Roberts, on the previous day.

Inspector Hunt, in applying for a remand. said the prisoner was further charged with robbing a man named Benton of 4s. 6d.

Prisoner said he had lived at Kilnhurst all his life. He worked for John Milner at the pit. On Sunday they were drinking together at Hill-top.

Mr Jubb: You would have been a good deal better at home.

Prisoner : They want to swear me down I stole their money when we were lying down under a hedge together.

The Bench remanded the prisoner.

An application for bail was refused.
