Youth’s Body Taken from Canal
Missing Over Two Months

The body of Douglas Linton, a 17 year old youth, who had been missing from his home at 193 Pitsmoor Road, Sheffield since January 6, was found in the River Don at Kilnhurst yesterday.

Linton, it is understood, was seen to slip and fall into the River Near Effington Rd, Attercliffe, and he disappeared in the swirling waters when the river was in flood.

Police have dragged the river on several occasions, but yesterday the body was seen floating near Ferry Boat House at Kilnhurst by a policeman and was recovered.

The boy’s father Mr William Linton visited Kilnhurst and the identified the body.
