Well-Known Wombwellian
Leaving Kilnhurst for Aughton
Mr. Gordon Leake (32), a well known Wombwellian and for the past 21 years landlord of the Terrace Inn, Kilnhurst, moved on Wednesday to take over the licence of the Black Bull at Aughton.
Mr Leake is a son of Mr and Mrs Albert Leake who, have held the licence of the Alma Inn, Wombwell, for 14 years and at one time was a well-known figure in South Yorkshire dance circles.
A qualified dance instructor, he was associated with his father for many years in the management of the Futurist dance hall, Wombwell. Before going into the licenced trade he was employed on haulage work by the Wombwell builder, Mr C. F. Ibbotson.
He married Miss Pat Horsfield, of Jump, who was formerly a telephonist with Newton Ohambers and Company of Thorncliffe. Manly friends will wish the couple success, in their new enterprise.
