The “Rights of the Road.”

Horace Flavell, of Kilnhurst, appeared to answer a charge of riding his bicycle at Brampton, on the 19th May without giving warning.

An officer stated that he was in plain clothes, and defendant passed within four feet of him. He never heard him ring, and when he got past him he shouted to him to stop. After telling him he would be reported, be said “You must be hard up for a case.”

Defendant said he touched his bell when within 20 yards at the constable, whom he knew, although he was not in uniform.

Defendant was fined 1s. and costs.
