Splendid Effort
Aeroplane Assured By Kilnhurst Works
Congratulations are due to Messrs Baker and Co and their employees, for exceeding their ambition to raise the cost of an aeroplane (£2,500) to the month of May, by purchasing War Bonds and War Savings Certificates.
The actual amount invested was £2759 17s.
The sale of War Bonds during the month realised £930, block certificates issued made an aggregate of £2500, comprising one of £400, £200 and £150.
There were several calls for single certificates of £12 and £25.
This form of patriotism completes the essentials of victory, for men, money and munitions are combined at the Kilnhurst Steel Works.
The secretary, Miss Warner and Mrs Steel, along with the treasurer (the Reverend C.steel), organiser of the idea, and worked hard to make the effort go, and they were crowned with success.
The heads of the firm assisted the scheme willingly and financially, with the result that more business was done during the month and in the year previous.
