Some Goalkeeper!
How our older readers remember ”Touch Em All”? Arthur Hall, to whom this was given after a remarkable feat playing football for Kilnhurst so 1015 as 1886, now lives at 12. Canklow Rotherham.
He will be 75 in August.
As a miner at Kilnhurst Colliery he was playing with the team against Stavelty in a Sheffield and Hallamshire Cup final at Bramall Lane. During the match he punched a ball away from the Kilhhurst goalmouth and the result was that the ball left the ground, smashed a public house widow, and did damage to the between £30 and £40.
The distance from the goal to the ball measured 98 yards.
Mr Hall had similar experiences in later games—though the damage was not so extensive.
