Pte. L. Meggitt (right picture)
(Y. and L.), of Kilnhurst, has been awarded the Military for good work on Oct. 16. While out with a patrol in broad daylight, after a German raid had been repulsed, he succeeded in carrying back a wounded German, and there by obtained valuable information.
Pte. Meggitt enlisted at the outbreak of war, but warn discharged on account of poor eyesight. Within six months he had re-enlisted, and was sent to Gallipoli. He was invalided from there with trench feet, and lost all his toes.

His brother Pte G Meggitt (Royal Fusiliers) was badly wounded on.the Somme, and is still in hospital in Dublin.
