Mr Charles Kettle, only son of Mr and Mrs Edward Kettle, of the School House, Kilnhurst, has been gazetted to a second Lieutenancy in the Royal Garrison Artillery.

He is in his 26th year, and before joining the Amy was making rapid progress in his profession as a banker. He was manager of the London, City and Midland Bank at Romsey, Hants, being previously on the staff of the Sheffield and Hallamshire bank, Sheffield.

He enlisted originally in the R.F.A. and was subsequently transferred to the R.G.A.

He took his Cadet course at Exeter.
