Wounded in Burma

L/Cpl. Ronald Hill (20), only son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Hill of 27, Cromwell Road, Mexborough, has been wounded in the back while taking part in the fighting at Imphal.  He has had four operations, but is now recovering and can get about again.

Joining up at the age of 18 in October, 1942, he sailed for India in November 1943, and from there went into Burma.  He was a keen sportsman, having played cricket for Mexborough and Denaby and football for Denaby.  He was employed at Baker and Bessemar’s, Kilnhurst, and played football and cricket for their sports club before joining up.  He went to Mexborough Secondary School and took his School Certificate there.

His father, Mr. Rob Hill, was in the last war and was twice wounded.  He is steward at a Mexborough club.
