The widow of Rifleman JW Brownlow, K.R.R, Victoria Street, Kilnhurst has receive the military medal posthumously awarded to him for exceptional gallantry intending wounded under fire.

Although himself wounded, he assisted a wounded Lance Corporal to the dressing station, and was returning for another wounded man when he was killed by shellfire.
