Three Kilnhurst Brothers, One Missing

Pte. Wilfred Bailey (K.O.Y.L.I.), (picture, centre) who lived with his sister, Mrs. Watson, at 8, Barton’s yard, Kilnhurst, has been missing since August 22, 1917 (see below).

He was 30 years of age, and enlisted three years ago. He has been twice wounded.

Before enlistment he was employed as a miner at the Thrybergh Hall colliery.

His brother, Pte William Bailey (K.O.Y.L.I.), (picture right), Chapel yard, Kilnhurst, married, aged 37, has been serving throughout the war, and is at present in the line.

Another brother, Pte. Maurice Bailey (R.N.D.), (picture left), of Dinnington, formerly of Kilnhurst, aged 26, is in hospital in Newcastle-on-Tyne, with trench fever. He is married, and enlisted at the outbreak of war, but broke down in training and was discharged. He re.-enlisted nine months ago in the Royal Naval Division.
