Reward for Good Work
On their way to London this afternoon for the England v Scotland international match at Wembley are a party of 20 colliery workers from the Yorkshire Coalfield.
Before the game they will be the guests of the National Coal Board at lunch.
The men are some of those who have been recommended by the 137 pit production committees in the area for their good work, and the trip is their reward.
The number recommendation was far greater than the number of available tickets, and a draw had to be made to decide who should go.
The names to come out of the hat included:
A Walker, Cortonwood
R Hague, Kilnhurst
N Ford, Barnborough
H Moore Mitchell Main
