Mr Edwin Harris, of 27 Carlisle Street, Kilnhurst, who today opened (Friday) is to give an organ recital at the Regal Cinema Newcastle.

He plays the organ, flute, accordion, guitar and banjulele and is practically self tutored.

“He gave me selections of his own arrangement at his home on Monday,” (writes a “Times” reporter) “and I never believed an organ could sound so sweet.”

He received musical tuition from Mr JM Grayson at Mexborough. He could play the piano efficiently when he was nine and took an interest in music before that. His signature tune is “Over my shoulder goes one care.”

At one time he played at Swinton Picture House, and is also organist at Highthorn Church.
