New Pavilion
The new pavilion provided for the Miners’ Welfare Ground at Kilnhurst, and opened last Thursday, is a monument to the interest shown by Mr. H. P. Oliver chief engineer at Kilnhurst Collieries, who has taken a great interest in the welfare scheme at Kilnhurst from the first.
It is largely due to his energy and enthusiasm that the scheme has been carried through difficulties and apathy to such a successful issue.
Mr. Oliver is a keen supporter of every branch of sport, and his enthusiasm has been a factor in bringing to the aid of the scheme the colliery company and the leading residents of the village. He personally supervised the re-conditioning of the ground and the building of the pavilion.
