The funeral took place yesterday at Mexborough of Mr. Ralph Burkinshaw, following a service at the Congregational Church, Mexborough.

The Rev. R. Robson officiated.

Mr. Burkinshaw, who was manager of The Wine Lodge, High St, Mexborough, was a very well-known sportsman. He played cricket for Mexborough and Denaby and football for Bradford City, Wrexham and Bury. He gained a Third Division North Championship medal for 1928-29 season when he played for Bradford City at centre-half. The following year he gained a Welsh Senior Cup Medal when he played for Wrexham.

Born in Kilnhurst 53 years ago he leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter. One of the sons is living in Australia.
