Cup Winners at last
“Wasps” happy
This is a cup day of the season, and what more appropriate subject could there be for my gossip this week? We have been talking nothing else but the Cup since last Saturday – not the English cup, but the handsome trophy, the ambition of all the competing clubs in the Mexborough Charity Cup competition.
Our lads rose to the occasion splendidly and became proud cup holders by a deserving victory over Parkgate and Rawmarsh by two goals to none.
It was a wretched day, and the cause of charity suffered accordingly, but though we all got wet through at Mexborough, we went home dry was shouting, and happy and at peace with the world.
Mould played, the “Wasps!” You have kept the old club going in troublesome times and the honour is a fitting climax to the season now ending
The distinction is to be celebrated by a public dinner, which the medals will be handed to a set of popular players and jolly good fellows. Everyone went the pace for the whole 90 minutes, and, without making comparisons, and was honourably mentioned Harry Caterer, Stanley Hirst and Ripon, who were on the top of their form. “Harry,” in fact commanding the admiration of the crowd by great display. Hats off to the gallant “Wasps”
it may be interested to give the recent winners of the Cup. Here they are:
