Hired a Coach for Anniversary Party
A Kilnhurst family hired a coach last week to travel to Scunthorpe for the Silver Wedding party of Mr. and Mrs. Docherty, held at the Lincolnshire town this week.
In the party was Mrs. E, A. Docherty of 19 Beighton Close, Kilnhurst and she was among the 90 guests. Mrs. L. Rogers, mother of Mrs. Ethel Docherty, travelled from Tees-side with one of her daughters, Mary, and three grand-daughters to be at the party.
The couple were married at Thornaby-Tees on March 10th, 1945, after Mr. Paddy Docherty’s 21st birthday. Mr. Docherty was born at Swinton and lived in the town until moving to Scunthorpe five years ago. The couple now live at 5, Wrawby Road. Other guests at the party included Mr. and Mrs. Dawson who emigrated to Australia on Monday, and close friends – a couple who celebrated their silver wedding at the party, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fillingham of Scunthorpe, and the couple’s foster child, Helen.
The party was held at the Riddings Community Centre where Mrs. Docherty is a member of the Executive Committee.
