Golden Wedding

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs H Russell, of 17, Charles Street, Kilnhurst, who celebrate their golden wedding tomorrow.

Mr and Mrs Russell have lived in five reins.

They have six children living, one son being killed in the Wath colliery disaster in 1930.

“I remember when we went to Wath Parish Church in a buggy to be married, and when anyone talking of motor cars was considered out of his mind,” said Mrs Russell to our representative.

The couple have 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs Russell is 71 and Mr Russell 70, and the latter worked at several collieries in the district as a miner until his retirement.
