Archie Hoyle, miner, of Victoria Street, Kilnhurst was, at the Rotherham Borough Court yesterday, ordered to contribute 20 shillings towards the maintenance of his wife, whom he was alleged to have deserted on May 21.
The parties were married in November 1915, and complainant stated that since that time she had had five black eyes.
Defendant had stated that he would rather pay £1 a week rather than have her about the place.
