Fatally Injured At Kilnhurst Pit

A verdict of accidental death was returned at an inquest at Rotherham yesterday on Reuben Allott (50), miner, of 37, Greasborough Road. Parkgate, whose arm and shoulder were injured by a fall of coal in Kilnhurst Colliery on January 24th and who died on Monday in Rotherham Hospital.

Irvin Cross, conveyer turner, of 122, Pottery Street, Rawmarsh, said Allott was removing steel props from the top of the conveyer box when without any warning a piece of coal weighing about a hundredweight fell from the coal face on to his left arm and shoulder.
