It is doubtful whether the people of Kilnhurst fully appreciate the excellent choir they have at their Parish Church, trained by Mr J Broadbent, who has done so much for music in the district.. The choir gave a rendering of Stainers “Crucifixion” on Palm Sunday at the evening service.
The principal tenor was Mr Vernon, and his splendid voice was heard to great advantage. Mr Leslie Broadbent (bass) who had been singing by invitation at the Victoria Hall, Sheffield, the same day, sang exceptionally well.
The Parish Church Choir may justly feel proud to have his services. His enunciation is exceedingly good, and there is no doubt that in the future he will make his mark in the singing world.
The whole performance was listened to by a good congregation, and was rendered in a high-class manner. Great credit is due to the choir, the choirmaster and the organist for the occasion (Mr F Hinchcliffe)
