Danger of Canal Travel,

At Mexbro’, yesterday, a verdict of accidental death was recorded in the case of John Emmerson (14), barge boy, Market street, Mexborough, who was crushed between his boat and a canal bridge at Kilnhurst, on September 5th.

He was caught the right thigh, and suffered compound fracture. At the Montagu Hospital, a week later, it was necessary to amputate the limb, and he died of exhaustion.
