Coronation King and Queen
Schoolchildren’s Ballot

Kilnhurst is to have its own coronation king and queen.

Last week a ballot was taken at the National School for the King, and Arthur Hawcroft of 8 Highthorn Kilnhurst, son of Mr and Mrs A Hawcroft was chosen.

At the same time a ballot was taken at the Council School for the Coronation Queen, when Edna Stead, daughter of Mr and Mrs T A Stead was successful.

The father of both are miners. Much enthusiasm was shown by the children in the choice, and the decided majority were shown in both cases.

The two will be crowned as part of the festivities on the Welfare ground on Coronation Day.
