Blaze in an Oil Tank At Kilnhurst Steelworks
Foam extinguishes were brought into action by Mexborough Fire Brigade when they were called to a blaze in an oil tank used for the heat treatment of locomotives and railway rolling stock at Baker and |Bessemer steel works Kilnhurst in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Divisional Officer S. lightly was in charge of the two machines which attended.
An official of the firm stated that littlle damage was done to the tank. “These fires always look worse than they are,” he said
The fire occurred in the heat treatment section of the steelworks as the night shift was coming to an end.
