Another Fog Victim
Aged Miner Drowned at Kilnhurst
Yesterday, George Cope (77), colliery Labourer, of 63, South Terrace, Kilnhurst, was found drowned in the canal at Thrybergh.
He left home at 4:45 a.m. to go to his work at Aldwarke colliery, and would have had to walk by the side of the canal part of the way.
About 9 a.m. Arthur Langton saw the deceased in the canal.
The body was recovered and taken to the deceased’s lodgings.
He was supposed to have walked into the water during the fog.
