Home With “Wing”

Sergt. Frank Thompson (29) eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Thompson, 12, Rix Road, Kilnhurst, is home after 3½ years abroad.

Sergt. Thompson was awarded his “wing” as a navigator in South Africa, where he has trained since 1942.  Before that he served on the ground staff as an instrument repairer.

An old boy of Mexborough Secondary School, Sergt. Navigator Thompson studied mining at Rotherham Technical College.  He left work at Tinsley Park Colliery a month before war broke out to join up.
