A Row With The Chairman.
A disturbed workmen’s meeting at Messrs Baker’s Works, Kilnhurst, was spoken of in connection with the hearing of a summons for threats at the Rotherham West Riding Court yesterday.
The complainant was Alfred Russell, of Meadow View, Kilnhurst, and the defendant Harry O. Cormack, of Swinton.
The case for Russell was that a meeting of the shop Sick Fund was held March 28th, both men attending as members. There were about 150 present. Russell occupied the chair in the absence of the ordinary chairman. It was alleged that through defendant’s conduct an uproar was caused, and the proceedings were brought to an end.
Outside defendant, it was alleged, caught him by the back of the neck, called him a name and said would take him to George Baker.
Defendant, it was said threatened to strangle complainant and to eat him up.
After hearing evidence, the Bench dismissed the summons.
