A New Idea
A Complete breakaway from the traditional old people’s Christmas tea is being made at Kilnhurst this year and instead a Kilnhurst O.A.P.’s Command Performance is to be held on December 7th.
.J. Haythorn, who has been organising efforts to raise money for the Christmas treat, said, “It is a completely new idea and whether it is a success or not remains to be seen.”
Instead of the people sitting down to a tea, a buffet is to be provided at the Kilnhurst W.M.C., on Thursday, December 7th. It is hoped to provide first-class entertainment for the aged people. The doors will be open at 5.30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6 p.m. with a buffet provided during the evening. Because of the limited space available the treat will be available only to residents of Kilnhurst.
Efforts have so far raised f30 for the treat, and it is hoped that local business people will help in providing competition prizes.
