A Case from Thrybergh Hall Colliery.
Vincent Smith, of Swinton, was summoned for having committed a breach of special rule 101 at the Thrybergh Hall Colliery on the 22nd ult., by not setting and maintaining a short prop or spree at least every six feet in his working place.
Mr. Hickmott prosecuted.
Geo. Bartholomew, under manager, said on the 22nd ult., he went into the defendant’s working place where he found 12 feet of coal holed to a depth of half a yard. No sprags were set. Defendant and his trammer were working in front of the coal face and were in danger.
Defendant pleaded that he had worked in the mine 20 years, and this was the first offence with which he been charged.
A fine of 20s., including costs was imposed
