10 Goal Skipper
When Baker and Bessemer beat Harlington 5-1 in the Mexborough Challenge Cup last weekend, since keeper Sidney Dunhill (picture) got four of the goals (Lawton got the other) and took his personal contribution to Bakers success to 10 goals in three games.
Skipper Dunhill played as a boy in Bakers’ Intermediate championship side of 1938 -39 and was later a member of the Frickley Colliery side which won the Sheffield Association League in 1943-44.
During his Army service he played with his Battalion team and has also been noted with keen interest at Hillsborough.
He has captained Bakers’ cricket team on occasions.
Tribute to Harlington comes from Bakers’ secretary, Mr. John Haigh: A very neat football side,” is his comment.
