Met The Duchess
Former Kilnhurst youngster Chevrylle Viviane Wilcocks was recently chosen to meet the Duchess of Kent at her new school in Basildon, when the Duchess came to unveil a plaque to commemorate the completion of St. Martin’s Church, Basildon.
Eleven years old Chevrylle was a member of the school choir which entertained the Duchess, and spoke to her on two occasions. Chevrylle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wilcock who moved South last March. Mrs. Olive Wilcock taught at the Kilnhurst Primary School, and Mr. Wilcock is an accountant.
Chevrylle has one sister, Lynne, who attends the Fryers Grammar School in Basildon. From her home in Charles Street, Kilnhurst, Mrs. B. Burkinshaw, Chevrylle’s grandmother said, “I received a letter from Chevrylle telling me about her talk with the Duchess, whom she said she had met twice. She presented her with a bouquet of flowers at the unveiling ceremony. “
