Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 29 October 1917
Forwards Braced Up.
Barnsley 2 Huddersfield Town 1
Less than minute off halftime Barnsley’s gradual improvement enabled J. Burkinshaw, the Wednesday player, to equalise
The timely temporary help of J. Burkinshaw, together with the re-appearance R. Burkinshaw, after a lengthy absence, gave to the Barnsley attack an added forcefulness which had a small bearing the result.
Anyway, seeing that the only goal of the second half was netted by R. Burkinshaw, it will b admitted that the busy B’s” of the famous Kilnhurst footballing family had a dual outing which did the Barnsley club a good turn.
