Private G Burkinshaw
(York and Lancaster)
has been killed in action on June 7.
Enlisted in November 8, 1914. He had been in France nearly 2 years.
His officer writes to Mrs Burkinshaw:
“I offer you my sincere sympathy. His death, along with others, who gave up their lives on that day, as cause a great loss to us, but our loss cannot be compared to yours, as I am certain he was a good son. On the field he proved himself a good soldier. In offering you my condolence, I echo the sentiments of all officers, and NCOs and men of this company.

brother of Private G Burkinshaw is now in hospital in France, and he has been out there nearly 2 years
