On Friday week, the children of the Swinton and Kilnhurst schools, to the number of 180, were regaled with an excellent dinner of roast beef and plum pudding, produced for them by the kindness of the inhabitants of this village.
The dinner took place in the schoolroom, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion and he children were addresswed by the Rev John Lowe, M.A. and the Rev C. Hayes, M.A.
